The Murchison Meteorite | Magazine Spread

Project Type

Magazine spread

Date

December 2024

In this project, I was commissioned to design a captivating magazine spread focused on the Murchison meteorite, an extraordinary celestial object that landed in Australia in 1969. My process began with extensive research, delving into articles that explored the meteorite’s scientific significance, its unique composition, and the media narratives that shaped its perception as a remarkable artifact of the cosmos.

To capture the essence of the Murchison meteorite, I created a mood board that reflected the imagery and "personality" the media associated with it—mystical, otherworldly, and groundbreaking. This board served as a visual reference, guiding my design choices in color, typography, and layout.

The final magazine spread embodies a modern interpretation of scientific portrayals of space, combining infographics with approachable visuals of the meteorite. I aimed to convey not just the meteorite’s physical attributes but also its significance as a bridge between us and our origins. By blending contemporary design elements with compelling storytelling, the spread presents the Murchison meteorite as a captivating subject, inviting readers to explore the mysteries of the cosmos through the lens of modern science.
